Music education

Sofia Tsimbal graduated from the choral, theater and choreography departments of the G.V. Sviridov Children's School of Music in St. Petersburg. In 2016 she graduated with honors from the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Music School. In 2016, she graduated with honors from the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Music School, vocal class. In 2016 she entered the Russian Institute of Theatrical Art GITIS, Faculty of Musical Theater.

She has taken an active part in master classes given by Elena Obraztsova, Tamara Sinyavskaya, Larisa Gergieva, Dmitry Vdovin, Alessandro Amaretti, Sebastian Schwarz, Lyubov Orfenova, Marina Shaguch, Olga Makarina, Paolo de Napoli and Giuseppe Sabbatini, and Sergei Leiferkus.

Creative Biography

From 2014 to 2016, she was a trainee of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Company and took part in the premiere productions of Rimsky-Korsakov's operas The Tsar's Bride (conducted by M. Tatarnikov) and Hansel and Gretel by E. Humperdinck.

During her studies at the music school, she took part in concert productions of N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov's operas The Golden Cockerel with the Paulavicius Symphony Orchestra (conductor A. Vasiliev). She took part in concert productions of Rimsky-Korsakov's operas The Golden Cockerel (as the Queen of Shemakhan); Ruslan and Lyudmila (as Lyudmila) and The Magic Flute (as the Queen of the Night); at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre she performed Bolero Elena from G. Verdi's opera Vespers in Sicily.

In the concert of E. V. Obraztsova Competition Laureates, she sang on the stage of the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory with the orchestra conducted by A. Petukhov. Petukhov, on the stage of the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall with the orchestra conducted by M. Antonenko; participated in the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation's subscription concert at the Moscow Philharmonic, the Zaryadye Concert Hall, and took part in concerts at the Small Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic.

In 2017 she took part in a concert established by the Elena Obraztsova Foundation at the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi (conductor - A. Sladkovsky), was awarded a Diploma of the President of the Russian Federation and a commemorative medal.

In 2018, she became a soloist of the youth opera company of the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after D.D. Shostakovich.

On the stage of the theater performed the role of Xenia in the opera "Boris Godunov" by M.P. Mussorgsky, the role of Princess in the musical performance "Bremen Musicians" by G.I. Gladkov.

In 2019, she participated in the 12th Bashmet Winter Arts Festival in the Department of Vocal Arts under the direction of Dmitry Vdovin.

In the summer of 2019, Sophia participated in a production of W. A. Mozart's opera The Magic Flute in Weimar, Germany.

Among recent engagements: the concert "Gradus ad Parnassum" in the Small Hall of the Samara Academic Theater, roles in children's musical performances "Repka" by R. Sagdiyev (Mouse), "Golden Key" by A. Rybnikov (Columbine), the role of Libochka in the operetta "Moscow, Cheremushki" by D. Shostakovich and others.

В 2023 году стала финалистом образовательного проекта "Институт оперы" и приняла участие в Гала-концерте выпускников и педагогов на сцене Большого зала "Зарядье" (дирижер - Мигран Агаджанян, оркестр "Musica viva").
