Music education

Venera Gimadieva graduated from Kazan Music College in 2003 with a degree in choral conducting. From 2004 to 2009 Venera studied at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory of Music. From 2004 to 2009, Venera studied at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in the opera singing department, in the class of Professor Svetlana Vladimirovna.

In 2008, Venera was invited as a soloist to the St. Petersburg Opera under the direction of Y. I. Alexandrov. It was there that she made her debuts in such roles as Lucia (Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor), Gilda (Verdi's Rigoletto) and Lucia (Britten's The Defamation of Lucrezia).

Creative Biography

In 2009 Venera Gimadieva was accepted into the Youth Program of the State Bolshoi Theatre of Russia under the direction of Professor D. Y. Vdovin, and after her graduation in 2011 became a leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre.

The singer's leading roles include Violetta, La Traviata (Royal Opera House Covent Garden, La Fenice, Paris National Opera, Glyndebourne Opera Festival, and Hollywood Bowl debut); title role in Lucia di Lammermoor (Dresden State Opera, Teatro Real, Madrid, and Bavarian State Opera debut); Queen of Shemakhan, The Golden Cockerel (La Monnaie, Brussels, Teatro Real, and Santa Fe Opera debut).

Venus is one of the brightest performers in the bel canto repertoire. Her interpretations of roles such as Elvira, The Puritans (Teatro Real, Vienna State Opera); Juliette, Capuletti e Montecchi (Deutsche Oper Berlin); and Amina, Somnambula (Bolshoi Theater) have earned her the love of audiences and the interest of critics. The program of Venus' first solo album Momento Immobile, released by the British recording company Rubicon Classics with the production support of Artist Digital, consists of bel canto arias. Arias from operas by Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini have been recorded with the British orchestra The Hallé, conducted by Gianluca Marciano.

The 2018-2019 season included a debut at Washington National Opera ("La Traviata"), a return to Deutsche Oper Berlin with a production of "Somnambula," and a debut performance as Marguerite Valois ("The Huguenots") at Dresden Opera.

Among the engagements of recent years: the concert "To the 90th anniversary of Mikael Tariverdiev" in MKZ "Zaryadye", gala concert of the Youth Arts Festival "Green Noise" in Surgut Philharmonic, took part in two concerts "Russian Classics in Rock" in the framework of Igor Sandler's festival - Sandlerfest, where she performed the legendary Barcelona by Queen.

In 2022 she made her debut at the Grand Theatre of the Hong Kong Cultural Center as Violetta (La Traviata by G. Verdi), conducted by Renato Palumbo and directed by Jean-Louis Grinda. Performed the role of Norma in V. Bellini's opera of the same name at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. Performed a recital at the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic together with Pavel Nebolsin (piano), dedicated to the anniversary of S. V. Rachmaninoff. She performed the role of Norma in V. Bellini's opera of the same name at the Semperoper in Dresden.

In 2023, Venus took part in a concert in the Grand Hall of the Zaryadye International Music Hall, where she performed Mozart's Requiem. She made her debut as Michaela (Carmen by J. Bizet) on the stage of the Nizhny Novgorod Opera and Ballet Theater (directed by Yelizaveta Moroz).

Plans for 2023 include: in Glyndebourne, UK performing the role of Donna Anna in Mozart's opera Don Giovanni; a chamber concert at the Moscow Museum of Music together with Pavel Nebolsin; and a concert in the Organ Hall at the Perm Regional Philharmonic.
